East Hampton Airport Finds A Way to Limit Flights

As we await public input forums (starting 5/24 in White Plains) to inform Westchester County Airport Master Plan revisions, we have learned that East Hampton's airport
this month is shutting down and reopening with new rules, including a mandatory overnight curfew.
As an Airport Coalition Supporter, tell us what you think? Are there lessons for Westchester in East Hampton's story?
The NY Times article, "Homeowners vs. Helicopters: A Very Hamptons Fight", provides background on the issues, attitudes, and strategies that led East Hampton to its decision, as well as what may come next. Click here for the new East Hampton rules and Town Laws that create penalties for violators.
Also, you can hear more about East Hampton towards the end of the Coalition's Airport Master Plan video briefing. All Coalition Supporters were sent a link to the recording of the briefing. If you want us to resend it, email supporters@ctpwae.org.
Please reply to this email with your thoughts about the relevance of East Hampton's approach to Westchester. Keep in mind that among other differences, Westchester's airport is much larger and hosts commercial airlines (though airlines account for only about 15% of overall flights at the airport with the bulk being private/corporate aircraft).
